We recently added a new tour to our list of over 20 tours on our website: The Classic Wonders of the Golden Circle and South Coast, now with an added visit to the highlands.
The untouched nature of the highlands is surreal. You feel like you are traveling from one planet to another just by driving a few kilometers. We stop at waterfalls, take short hikes, and fill our water bottles where a river originates, witnessing where it emerges from the ground.
On this tour, we stop at the historic Viking farm of Stöng and see the excavations of the farm, dug out of the pumice from the Volcano Mt. Hekla. We travel by the huge ravines and hydroelectric dams created by the Hydro energy company, where they harness the highland glacier rivers to produce energy.
This tour, like all our tours, is a mixture of sightseeing, hiking, and short walks. We stay at our favorite hotels on the South Coast, which offer an amazing atmosphere and great food. While all our tours are private, this one is open for up to 12 people, making it a semi-private small-group tour.
