In this slow pace tour in the west and south in Iceland you will see, experience and enjoy every sight without having to think
that you are missing anything.
Day 1: Landing early in Keflavik or pick up from Reykjavík"
Pick up at 7 am - Short tour around Reykjanes peninsula, breakfast at the Viking museum and drop off at the Northern Lights Inn hotel or Silica hotel by the Blue lagoon. You can then relax in the hot water at the Blue Lagoon (Premium Admission to the Blue Lagoon and unlimited access to the Silica Lagoon when available) and get ready for the next day. Dinner at the hotel or the Lava restaurant (Tasting menu, excluding drinks) by the Blue Lagoon.
Day 2: Pick up at 9:30 am - from the Northern Lights Inn
Visiting the sites of Borgarfjörður including Deildartunguhver hot springs, Hraunfossar, Barnafossar, Reykholt Snorri's pool, Hvalfjörður Whale bay, and Réttarfoss staying at Hotel Glymur in Hvalfjörður for two nights in a detached house with two bedrooms and a hot tub viewing ever the bay. Good food and atmosphere.
Day 3: Day starts at 9:30 am
Visiting the sites of the Snæfellsnes peninsula including Arnarstapi, Beautiful view of the splatter cone Eldborg, Gerðuberg basalt columns, Shark museum and optional shark tasting, Grundarfjörður with the photogenic: Mt.Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall, Drive through the small towns of Ólafsvík, Hellissandur, and Rif, Yellow sand beach at Skarðsvík (Viking burial place), Djúpalón black sand and pebble beach, stranded light troll and it´s boat at Þúfubjarg parricidal crater. Dinner at Glymur.
Day 4: Day starts at 9:30
Visiting the sites of the Golden Circle including Þórufoss waterfall One of the hidden gems in Iceland, Þingvellir national park Watch the tectonic plates move apart (slowly). Þingvellir is a heritage site where the parliament was established in the year 930 AD. Europa's oldest working parliament, Vígða laug (Holy pool) historical site for Christianity in Iceland, Geysir geothermal area watch Strokkur the amazing spouting geyser in Haukadalur, Haukadalur church site where the good troll is buried, Gullfoss waterfall Iceland´s 2nd biggest waterfall. Saved by Sigríður from Brattholt, Faxi waterfall, and Kerið crater. Staying two nights at Hotel Rangá or Fosshótel Hekla depending on availability
Day 5: Day starts at 10:00 am
a) Visiting the sites in the area, waterfalls, gorge, small hikes, and the Lava museum if you are interested.
or b) depending on driving conditions we visit the colorful area of Landmannalaugar in the Highlands of Iceland.
Day 6: Day starts at 9:30 am
Driving east visiting sites of the South coast including The black sand beach, Skógafoss waterfall, and the Sólheimajökull glacier. Staying and dining at Hotel Laki for three nights.
Day 7: Day starts at 10:00
Visiting sites in the Lavafield of Laki, depending on road conditions we visit the Laki craters.
Day 8: Day starts at 10:00
Visiting the Glacier lagoon, boat trip if you like around the icebergs. 90 minutes hike in Skaftafell to Svartifoss and back, depending on your stamina :-) and the Diamond beach.
Day 9: Day starts at 10:00
Driving west visiting the sites of the South coast we skipped on the way east including Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Dverghamrar old basalt columns cliffs, and cape Dyrhólaey with a view over the Black sand beach. Arriving in Reykjavik at around 5 pm
